The Challenge
Precision Work Demands Uncompromising Protection
Building a highly competitive Formula SAE race car from scratch requires hundreds of hours of intensive, hands-on labor. For Penn State’s Nittany Motorsports, this means mastering the demanding craft of carbon fiber composite fabrication—a process that involves mixing highly caustic epoxies and meticulously laying up aerodynamic bodywork.
When working with these aggressive resins and sharp, abrasive raw fibers, standard disposable protective gear simply doesn’t hold up. Student engineers need gloves that won’t chemically degrade or tear under the physical stress of heavy composite layups. They require a reliable chemical barrier that shields the skin from sensitizing epoxies and hardeners, while simultaneously maintaining enough tactile sensitivity to manipulate intricate molds and curve chassis contours.
